You're in good company since CGA is the designation of choice for accountants coming to Canada. CGA is an internationally recognized designation that offers great potential – just ask any of our 75,000 members and students. -
Certification
The steps to become a CGA include completion of :
the CGA education requirements,a recognized university degree,final certification courses and examinations andthe CGA professional experience requirements.This self-assessment tool will help you determine if your previous education will earn exemptions towards the CGA designation.The Frequently Asked Questions section will provide you with answers to some typical questions related to the use of this tool and the certification process.
After completing the self-assessment tool questions, unofficial results can be emailed to you. This email will come from the CGA office that would likely handle the formal assessment should you decide to continue the CGA enrolment process. -
Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA)
MRAs enable professional members of selected accounting bodies to become a CGA with a minimal amount of additional requirements. MRAs are available to eligible members in good standing of the following designations only:
ACCACPA AustraliaCPA IrelandOEC de FranceThere are no residency restrictions for those who are eligible to become a CGA through an MRA.

CGA Program Availability
The CGA Program is currently offered in the following locations:
CanadaBermudaCaribbeanIf you are currently outside of these locations you may be able to continue studies applicable to CGA's requirements through another accounting body or university, and later apply for transfer credits. You can use the self-assessment tool to identify many potential sources of advanced standing.You should also refer to the Contact Us page for links to the various CGA associations/offices and the CGA Canada International site where updates on program availability may be posted from time to time. -
