Professional Experience

CGA’s practical experience requirement, known as PERC (Professional Experience Required for Certification) involves up to 36 months of approved, full-time work experience with increasing levels of responsibility, completed according to CGA affiliate policies and procedures for reporting, verification and assessment. Students can gain this experience in any business sector and in a variety of fields, with the exception of public practice which must be done at a public practice firm.

Most affiliates will consider documented accounting related experience completed prior to enrolling in the CGA program as contributing up to 24 of the 36 months.
